Auto body repair & detailing: racing stripe, adhesion, plastic bumper

Question
I'm interested in putting a racing stripe on my 05 mustang gt. I my body guy is telling me that there's no guarantee that the paint will stick to the bumper, and i don't know for sure if he is sanding it down or not seeing as how he is giving me a really good price. But the guy is also a really good friend of the family and i don't really want to go to anyone else. What are the chances that the paint doesn't stick or starts to bubble up?

Answer
Hi David,

Usually the problem starts with a rock chip or crack in the paint. Unfortunately, Front bumpers are very susceptible to both. If it is being sanded all the way down to bare plastic PPG makes a fantastic adhesion promoter system for paint called One Choice. The part numbers for the products are SU4901, SU4902, and SUA4903. Done correctly it's as close to perfect as you can get.
