Auto body repair & detailing: 2002 Honda Civic EX - fix or trade?, honda civic ex, jap cars

Question
A/C quit- upon inspection, found no freon, broken hi pressure hose & engine cooling fan motor broken, Front Engine Mount & Side Engine Mount both broken, front lower control arm bushing broken, Left and right brake linings worn(making noise). Timing Belts are a ? but since car has almost 170,000 miles and they have never been serviced, it is suggested we do those too.  We are the original owners, and drive it daily, recently put 4 new tires on it.  The question is: How much more life does a 2002 Honda Civic EX have if we spend the 2K to fix it? will it become a money pit? or should we trade it for a new car? This is our first Honda but were told their reliability was really good, and they hold value better than most.

Answer
A 2002 Honda civic with 170,000 miles? 1 word- hoopdie. Unload this heap on some teenager for cheap, get an adult's car- Hondas are overrated, hold value no better than any other car, and repairs/parts are TOTALLY outrageous. Get a good GM car- You help keep AMERICA rolling, and AMERICANS in jobs. In today's economic climate, I wouldn't feel good about myself for buying something that keeps foreigners in money. I've nothing good to say about the Jap cars, or their companies. Some are manufactured here- big deal. The profits still go back to japan, and the japs work the poor Americans who work for them to death for mediocre wages. Makes me a little ill. Anyhow, Buck Lucerne is a great car, Malibu is cheap and dependable, and they look and feel like an adult car. Hondas are cheap and tinny, I sure wouldn't want to be in one in a crash. Especially one that has had as much road time as yours. They rust to the gills, and I bet cancer is spreading through it's undercarriage as we speak. Bill
