Auto body repair & detailing: Holes in the Sub frame, kia optima, penny size

Question
I have a KIA Optima 2001.  I just found out that there are 2 holds in the sub frame about a penny size right around under the driver seat. The holes are about 8-10 inches apart.  The body shop at a car dealership told me that it'll cost about $2000 to fix it.  Since my car is 8 years old, I don't want to spend $2000 for fixing it but I'm not ready to buy another car till another 4 - 6 months.  Other body shops in the area said by law they can't fix the sub-frame only to replace it. I just want some recommendation whether my car is still safe to drive for another 4-6 months.

Thanks,

Answer
You need to find someone to weld patches into the sub frame- try an independent body shop. Tell them you are willing to sign a document stating you will not hold them liable for the repair should it fail in any way- including in an accident. You really need to get rid of this car- it's becoming unsafe to drive. Bill
