Chrysler Repair: Transmission;codes 53 and 54, plymouth voyager, 1995 plymouth voyager

Question
I ran a test for fault codes using a scan tool on a cronic transmission problem in a 1995 Plymouth Voyager with the 4 speed trans.  The codes were #36 fault after shift, #53 3rd gr ratio ERR, and #54 4th gr ration ERR.  Any info on what these codes mean?  The van will only shift into 2nd gear, then it revs up and slams back down into 1st.  It is also in limp mode.  If you need more info let me know.  Thank you!

Answer
Hi Bobby,
I am sorry to have to report that the only plausible reason for both the 53 and 54 codes is that there is internal damage to the transmission that requires removal and repair. You could also verify that by dropping the pans and observing for presence of debris which is consistent with code evaluation. Please let me know if you find otherwise, but that is how I read it in the '92 ETAX manual that I am consulting upon for the causes of all the various codes.
