Auto body repair & detailing: Car door, sebring lx, inch gap

Question
I have a 1995 Crysler Sebring LX 2 door. the drivers door is sagged and i must lift it by hand at least one inch in order to close it tight!! it loos like the hinge is loose. when i raise the door a bit while it is open i can see that the hinge has about a 1/2 inch gap from the wall of the car. the auto body repair shop i took it to said it would cost 800 minium to repair and possibly 2300 hundred. he claims the bushung inside will not allow the bolt to tighten in any more. the door seemed to close just fine after it was taken out of storage but with some repeated use seems to have sagged. it is a real problem trying to close it as you can well imagine. but the cost of repair seems excessive.i look forward to your ansewer. thanks

Answer
It sounds like the wind has caught the door, and sprung the hinges- meaning the body, hinges, and the door itself are bent. If this is the case, the cost of repair could be high. You need to make an insurance claim . Try taking it to another body shop for another quote. Bill
