Auto body repair & detailing: Clear coat nightmare!!!, custom paint work, motor bikes

Question
Hi I have jus started out doing custom paint work on motor bikes until now
with great success. However the current bike has gone pear shaped on the
two pack clear coat. This has gone severely orange peeled or more like prune
skin. I have sanded it flat once and reapplied the top coat but one particular
area returns with the same orang peel. If I sand it again I will cut into the
paint job, the top coat is under 24 hours old, is there any chance of saving all
my hours of hard work? what can I do?

Answer
Hi Dan,

This sounds like quite a pickle. It sounds like you may be having a reaction from whats underneath. Did you use some type of inter-coat clear to help guard your custom paint work before you started with your 2K clear? You will definitely need to re-sand the wrinkled clear flat before you can continue. If you have an inter-coat clear on it you might be able to avoid sanding into your custom work. If not then go with at least a 1500 grit wet sand paper and hope for the best and stop as soon as you sand out the wrinkle or peel. I wish you the best and if there is anything else I might can help with please ask.
