Auto body repair & detailing: Autobody Work, toyota sienna xle, rear quarter panel

Question
QUESTION: We own a 2002 Toyota Sienna XLE in Silver Shadow Pearl and i'm wondering that where we got our rear quarter panel painted and repaired, why the Silver Shadow paint has a bit of dark spots in the area that was painted. Everywhere else on the quarter panel is fine but why does it have some dark spots?

Also for the body cladding on the Sienna, they've painted it but it doesn't have the texture that the other body cladding have. Why is that?

Thanks :)

ANSWER:  I have to ask the old question, did you shop for price or did you look for a quality shop. You got a terrible job, but did you get what you paid for. If your insurance co. paid for the job, complain to them after the shop refuses to make it right. If you shopped for the cheapest price, then you probably got what you paid for.
There is no reason for a top shop to let a job like that go out of their doors.

Damage
QUESTION: Well it was my parents who brought it there and all i can tell you is, they were probably shopping by price. Because that shop costed half of what the competitors are offering. They charged $200 at that shop and they charged about $500 and more which didn't really appeal to them...

It was just my father scratching the rear quarter panel in the parking lot thinking he had room to get out so no, we didn't ask for a claim because he did it himself.

I'm trying to convince them to NOT go to that shop but they insist going back for that hit & run that happened recently at the same place where he scratched the car... bad luck parking in that spot. I have photos of the damage and well, that shop is charging $500 for the job (which i think is actually UNREASONABLE since the job should cost maybe in the ballpark of around $750 or more CDN).

Could you estimate how much that should actually cost?

Thanks

Answer
I would charge at least $600.00+ to an insurance company, only because they have to pay the going rate. If I were to do it for a close friend, probably around $350.00 to $400.00. I don't see how you can get a good job for $200.00 and the shop still make a profit. There is some corner cutting somwhere. Your dad is more worried about the money then he is about the car. When you go to sell that car, the buyer will notice the crappy work.
 Good luck with this one
