Auto body repair & detailing: 2003 mustang bumper replacement, noticeable scratches, model mustang

Question
I was rear ended the other night and the damage is minimal but noticeable scratches and dents on rear left bumper, will it need to be replaced?I am single and know nothing about cars and don't want to be taken advantage of , so appreciate any help or advise you can give...

Answer
It depends on how bad the bumper is. Most shops want to replace it to make a better job. If the bumper has wrinkles in it, you should probably have it replaced. Around $600.00 for a base model Mustang with an OEM part. You would save about $100.00 with an aftermarket part. Fixing the old bumper would not save a whole lot. The bumper has to come off in order to do the job right and that would be about five hours total including paint labor. Most shops are close to or over forty five dollars an hour plus parts and material.
