Auto body repair & detailing: Possible bad door hinges 1996 Chevy K1500, chevy k1500, chevy dealership

Question
I have a 1996 Chevy Extended cab, K1500, 4x4 that has a right door that catches the panel every time the door opens and pulls it away from the door. I checked the door alignment and it appears that the door drops down when opening which causes the panel to rub the kick panel. It just barely clears the edge of the 3rd door when you close it and pushes upward to the door latch. The driver side isn't as bad and isn't hitting bottom yet, but I'm sure it won't be long before it does. Do I need to replace the complete hinge assembly or is it just that the hinge pins are going bad? I know the factory ones are welded which will require removal and can be replaced with new bolt on ones that will require some drilling to mount them. Any suggestions or opinions as to the repair? Thanks.

Answer
Take it to your local Chevy dealership, and have them install hinge pins and bushings. It's much cheaper, faster, and less invasive to the vehicle. It's not a DIY job, it requires special tools. Expect to spend around a hundred bucks. Have a great day. Bill
