Mercedes: Fuse box replacement, inline fuse, fuse box

Question
89 190E I need to replace the fusebox there a wire that has a inline fuse it used to jump 2 pins to bypass the relay on the driver side in the fuse box. This is the way it was when I got the car, from time to time the car won't start and also has burn up on me before. I can play with this wire and it start. The wire send power to the fuel pump I can't say if it hot only on start up or at all time. This weekend it stall on me like it ran out of gas and wouldn't restart it not getting power for pump, I check the voltage at the wire its about 7 votes How do I remove the fusebox and what relay belong there?.

Answer
Ken,
Sorry about your fuse problem, and the late response. A hot spot indicates high resistance. The heat comes from bad ground, loose connection too small wire or the pump drawing too much current because the brushes are bad. When the wiring is done every thing must be very clean and tight. Soldered joints if possible, and the wire gauge larger than original.
I must say that I do not have any data on this vehicle and how to get the fuse box out. You may be able to get assistance from www.benzworld.org on their forums.
Hope this helps
