Auto body repair & detailing: repair to a side mirror - saturn, andrea andrea, passenger mirror

Question
Hi Josh,
I recently broke the right side passenger mirror on my 2000 Saturn SL2. I found a RH mirror part on a website which cost less than $40.00 and I was wondering if it was worth it to try and replace it myself. If not, then is there any way you can give me an estimate on how much the part and repair would cost at a typical repair shop, instead of going to the dealer?  Thank you very much for your anticipated help, Andrea

Answer
Andrea its easy to replace just remove the phillip screw on the little cover right behind the mirror on the inside of the panel then remove the cover there will be 3 10mm bolts and a wire if yours is power then unplug the plug remove the bolts and pull the mirror off and just reverse the order to put it back on.it will still be cheaper if you take it some were to have it installed if you have the mirror so either way you decide to go i would buy the mirror a body shop will charge you less then $40 to install it good luck.
