Auto body repair & detailing: 92 Chevy Silverado has front frame damage, chevy silverado, frame damage

Question
My dad and I are repairing our truck which was wrecked a few months ago by my sister. I'm trying hard to work on the truck but don't know where to start. The front of the truck has shifted slightly and there are squeaks coming from the tires when driven slow. We took off the grill to start and now we need answers on what needs to be done to straighten the frame and the cost of the repair.

Answer
For starters the damaged parts need to be removed,as far as repairing frame damage you would need a frame machine to repair the damage to the frame. You can send this to a shop and do the rest of the repairs yourself if you like. The shift in the front could be caused by the core support shifting on the frame so to be sure there is frame damage you will need to find symmetrical points on the frame and take some measurements. This can be done with a tape measure, first measure length from some hole under the cab to a hole on the frame in front of the suspension, both sides should be equal. Then do an x measurement the same way from side to side ,all the measurements should be within a 1/4 inch or so.Just the frame repair at a shop should be no more than $500.
