Auto body repair & detailing: dent repair, body putty, loose paint

Question
I have an 89 Toyota 4-runner that my son knocked into a small tree. Damage was done to side light and above that light an old body putty patch (not mine) fell out. I have removed all loose paint and filler and have hammered out the fender. It now has some small dimples. I want to know how to prep/fill for paint. Then I want to know if there is a good, somewhat easy way to paint w/o a body shop.  This does not have to be perfect, just not so obvious as to call attention to law enforcement.

Answer
Make sure the spot is free of paint, fill with body filler and block sand untill the spot is flat. Primer with fillable primer, wait until that sets and then wetsand with 400 grit. Afterwards tape of what does not get painted paint the area and blend around it and then clear the entire panel with a clearcoat. use two good wetcoats of clear.
