Auto body repair & detailing: Paint protection, swirl marks, rotary buffer

Question
I have a 1996 BMW 528i. Can you advise the best way to remove swirl marks & what is the best & cheapest paint protection one can use. On one hand you have the $50/- PTFE treatment from www.5starshine.com & on the other hand $200/- Glass treatment from www.paintprotection.com.au. How do they compare & which one should I use?

Thanks,

JM.

Answer
I'm not familiar with every type of wax, etc. out there as there are literall hundreds of thousands that all claim to be the best, the ultimate, etc.  I would recommend a large reputable brand like Meguiar's.  Their products are available almost everywhere and their website provides a lot of great advice. Removing swirl marks can be difficult depending on the color of your paint, and if you are using a rotary buffer or doing it by hand.  By hand or machine, try Speed Glaze (Meguair's No. 80) to remove the swirl marks and then follow up with a good wax like No.20 or 21 Sealants.  Use a soft terry cloth rag if you don't have a wax applicator, and don't mix products on the same towel.  Get a microfiber buffiing cloth to take it off.  Hope that helps.
