Auto body repair & detailing: spots, nissan 300zx, paint remover

Question
Hello Brandon, I recently purchased a 1991 Nissan 300ZX. When you first see the car the paint looks good and has a good shine to it.  However, if you really look close, the car is covered with what looks like ordinary water spots. I originally thought it jist needed to be washed properly but the spots don't come off. They're on the paint, the trim and the windows.  At night they produce a distorted glare through the windows. Brandon, I have tried everything I know.  I even tried compounding these spots in an inconspicuous area on both the windows (I know, you're probably cringing) as well as the paint using No.7 orange compound (the fairly gritty type) and even that didn't touch these spots. I'm not sure what caused the spots but wondered if you know of any way to get rid of them. thanks, Jim

Answer
On the paint I would say that someone got some paint remover of left laquer thinner on the car in the sun, but on the glass. The only thing that I can think of that would do that is acid. I do not know how to remove off the glass, but the paint I can help. First wetsand a spot with 2000 grt wet or dry sandpaper, sand untill the spot is not shinny and evenly sanded. Then buff with rubbing compound to restore the shine. This should remove anything that is on top of the clear.
