Auto body repair & detailing: Wet Sanding after painting, but before clear coat, auto painting, orange peel

Question
I am fairly new to auto painting, and still get some orange peel in my initial coats.  Can I paint, then wet sand to get a smooth finish, then polish and apply clear coat?  I would clean the paint after polishing, but before clear coating.

You can sand imperfections out of your basecoat..Do not wetsand the whole vehicle. Do not polish before clearcoating. If you sand through to the sealer you must repaint those areas. Your clearcoat will smooth out your orange peel.
