Auto body repair & detailing: Keeping car in garage - worth it?, mike gallagher, paint world

Hello Mike -

  I have always assumed that a car is better off stored in a garage - regardless of season.  However, I notice that car dealers leave them outside -  forever.  The salesmen insist -'no matter; the elements don't hurt them.' I'm starting to question my 'garage religion.'  What's your position on this?

Dear Rick:

A dealership sells their cars before the elements become a problem.  However, if you own a car keeping it garaged is a great idea.  Over years of rain, snow, ice, acid rain, sunlight etc. your finish will be compramised and fade a lot quicker if its not garaged.  Yes keeping your car garaged is worth it.
