Auto body repair & detailing: hood release, chevy corsica, 93 chevy corsica

i hope you can help with this problem. my son was trying to install a new cd player in his '93 chevy corsica and when he went to pull the hood release the wire came loose from the latch and would not release the hood. he tried to pull the release wire with pliers but it didnt work. do you know of any way he can get the hood open? thank you very much if you can help it will be greatly appreciated.

     about all i can tell you over the computer is that some times you can reach up under the car behind the grill and find the lever that has the cable hooked to it and pull on it to release the hood ,then spray a lot of penatrating oil on the latch, this will help keep the latch lubricated. thanks for writing.
