Auto Glass: 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora, 2001 oldsmobile aurora, oldsmobile aurora

Question
i have an 01 oldsmobile aurora and the front driver side and rear passenger side windows don't work (no noise when switch is depressed# does this mean the motor is out on both windows or could it be the switches or... #hopefully :)) is there  individual fuses for each power window on the car? thanks in advance

Answer
Hello Ashely,

I don't repair problems on this vehicle too often, but at least often enough so that I do have a solid opinion of the most likely cause of your problem.

Because you don't hear any noise when you press the switch for either window, I think it is safe to say that the window regulators are probably okay.

The window motors used on the Aurora very seldom fail.  While it is not impossible that you have two window motors that failed at the same time, it is extremely unlikely.

My experience with problems similar to yours has almost always led me to a wiring problem rather that a switch problem.  The most typical wiring failure occurs in the bundle of wires between the driver's door and the body of the car. (look at the black rubber "boot" between the door hinges)

If your regular mechanic doesn't do a lot of electrical repairs, you might want to look for someone who has a least some experience.  Mechanics with electrical repair experience will be able to diagnose and repair the problem in much less time than a mechanic who does not routinely make this type of repair.  That will save you money.

Feel free to send a follow up question if there is anything else I can do to help.
