Auto Glass: Custom Window for rear-side of SUV, sunroof Vent Window

Question
Hi Derek,
I'm a dog lover with a 2006 Toyota Rav4.  I also have a '93 Toyota Landcruiser, which has great rear, side windows that slide open.  The Landcruiser windows are great for the dogs b/c they have their own ventilation that doesn't effect other passengers.  We have a baby coming, which means our dog will be stuck in the very rear of the Rav4 from now on.  I was hoping to find someone that could make a custom sliding window to replace the rear, side windows of our Rav4.  Do you know if this is feasible and where I could find this?  Do you have any idea how much something like this would cost?

Thanks so much,
Jen

Answer
Hi Jen,

First let me say:  Congratulations on the Baby!  Now your options are limited as to what can be done with this 06 Rav4.  The Quarter glasses are almost Fan shaped and as of today I know of no Aftermarket replacement with any type of vent in them and Belive me People want vents in a lot of different SUV's Mostly the Jeep Liberty, I get the vent question on that truck a lot because when the other windows are open the Quarters make a Horrible Rumbling sound at high speeds.

You did not tell me what kind of dog you have, and it does matter as to its size and what you are looking to accomplish with this Extra ventilation.

The only solution I can come up with is a Rear installed Sunroof vent that goes on the top of the roof. They come in many sizes from very small to regular sunroof size.

Then I would partition the Cargo area with some sort of divider to keep Hair and what not away from the Baby.

Let me know if this is what you want to do and I will ask you  for the measurements and get you the right unit to have someone install for you or get you a part number and the Shop you choose can order one for you.

I lost my Long time Friend of 18 Years last year named: Buddy
a German Shepard /Collie mix and I know how Important it is to have a good friend with you all the time!

                                 Hope This Helps Derek =D
