Auto Parts: timing belt tension, belt tension, dodge lancer

Question
is ther a inch pound torque a person can use to adjust the timing belt tension on a 1986 dodge lancer 2.5l or do you have to use thetool they recommend which i do not want to buy

Answer
Hello Monty,

There are many tools a person can use to get the correct amount of Inch pounds of torque, however, it has been my experience, and is my recommendation that when a manufacturer calls for a specific tool, it is best and also my recommendation to use that specific tool.  This is especially true for doing engine repairs, such as timing.  Also once replaced be sure to properly set the correct timing, it is helpful to mark the old belt position for reference when you install the new one.

Thank you

Good Luck
