Auto Parts: engines, sebring lxi, brake master cylinder

Question
will a 3.3l engine in a town and country van fit in my 01 sebring lxi with a 2.7l engine (both crysler engines)

Answer
Hello Alyssa,

Considering the fact that your current vehicle, an 01 Sebringcurrently has a 2.7 L engine installed in it, I would venture to say that a 3.3 L engine from Town & Country van will probably not fit your vehicle.

The reason for this is because the two engines are of different sizes, when engine is installed into a vehicle the engine compartment and amounts for the engine are custom fit for that specific engine. In order to do an engine swap either to gain more horsepower or because your current engine is no longer good it would require fabrication of the engine compartment and mounting points. You must also take into consideration the fact, that all of the parts in your engine compartment that work with your current engine including your transmission are meant to go with your 2.7 L engine. If you install 3.3 engine, it will probably require you to change out certain parts in order to work with that engine that you want to install. This could include the power steering pump, transmission, brake master cylinder, fuel system, radiator, cooling system, as well as other various parts.

You must remember that every engine is specifically designed to work with the components that are installed in the vehicle, vehicle manufacturers go through many hours of design and fabrication work to ensure that the engine and the components of your vehicle work together properly. The 2.7 L engine and the parts that are supplied to that engine as well as the exterior parts of the engine are meant to work with the 2.7 L engine set up. A 3.3 L engine set up will require additional modifications, and most likely require you to change out multiple other parts in order to properly use that engine in your vehicle and ensure that it works correctly. Failure to do so could result in damage to the vehicle, the engine and its components.

I would recommend that if you need a new engine for your 2001 Sebring, that you replace it with another 2.7 L engine as it will require no additional fabrication. Any auto parts store, or mechanic shop, can assist you in ordering either a new or rebuilt engine to put into your vehicle. In my opinion, this is your best option, as it will require the least amount of fabrication, overhaul, and money.

Please keep me advised of your progress, and let me know if I can be of any further assistance to you.

Good luck, Thank you.
