Auto Parts: shocks or springs?, 2001 Eclipse GT, Shocks

Question
ok i have a 2001 eclipse gt and my rear tires rub bc i have aftermarket rims and adapters and dont want to sell them, they stick out of the fender walls by an inch and quarter. ive tried lower profile, still rubs. so stiffing the suspension is what i want to do . either shocks or springs? and what parts would you recommend me getting?

Answer
Hi Cody,

OK so a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, (Very Nice Car BTW)=).

So the tires rubbing is definitely something that needs to be fixed because over time this will eat away the tread on the tires and can cause serious damage and even blow outs, also you are most definitely going to kill your bearings if you continue to drive with what you currently have on your car.

Your safest and best bet is going to be replacing what you have with tires/wheels that fit your car.  There are many tire dealers that can give you good looking ones for your vehicle, possibly even ones that look like the ones you have now, but are better fit to your vehicle.

This would be my suggestion to your, it is not worth it nor safe to go into replacing they shocks, struts and springs on your vehicle.

Let me know how you make out.  I hope this helps.

Thank You
