Auto Parts: blazer motor interchange, goodwrench engine, other vehicles

Question
I need to change the motor in my "97 blazer and need to know what motors from other vehicles will interchange. Thank you

Answer
This is the L35 version of the 4.3, used in 96-2002 Blazers.  4WD trucks use a different version of this engine than the 2WD, so that must be taken into account.  The best source for an engine, especially if you are planning on keeping the truck for long time, is the dealer.  GM sells "Goodwrench" replacement engines at a very attractive price, and they throw in a nice long-term warranty (even if you do the installation yourself).  I have gone many ways in obtaining replacement engines, but for Chevys I go with the dealer-supplied, brand new "Goodwrench" engine.  Shop around at a couple of dealers, some dealers discount these engines more than others.
