Auto Parts: pistons, stock pistons, country squire

Question
Sorry about asking so many questions but would my stock pistons work good with edelbrock cylinder heads. I am tryin to learn as much as I can so I do not go in to this engine blind. Thanks again.

Answer
The 351W, right?  I would think you'd want to get something with a little more compression.  Most of the engine kits you can buy come with pistons and rings.  You're almost certainly going to have to bore the block out to .010 over, probably .030.  So, new pistons will be necessary 'cause the old ones will no longer fit the bore.  If you have a source for the heads you might want to ask them to recommend pistons.  This is a pretty old truck; I don't know what kind of shape it is in.  I have been through the process of spending a lot of money on a car and then deciding I wanted something different when I got bored.  You never get any of the money back, whether you save receipts or not.  What you might want to consider, if you're really looking for some extra oomph, is finding a nice 460 out of an old Lincoln or Country Squire and putting that in.  You'd spend a lot less and have a more reliable and beefier motor.  Then, if you were still seriously crazy for more power, there's almost no limit to how big and nasty a 460 can be built.
