Auto Parts: 87 olds calais supreme 2.5L, salvage yards, pontiac grand am

Question
QUESTION: I need a fuel door assy and can't find any in salvage yards.Do you have any idea which other models and years of GM body styles would interchange?

Thanks,

George

ANSWER:      Assuming that this is the smaller front wheel drive Calais (N-body), the Pontiac Grand Am and the Buick Somerset both used the same body.  I'm sure that a fuel door from either would work.

QUESTION: Yes it is N body.....are you saying the Buick Somerset 85-87 and Grand Am 85-98 should be the same? I think they are N body like you said.
I find the older years are tougher....I'm looking for a range in years....Just because it is N body should work??
The year of the interchange is very important to me.....
Thank you
George

Answer
Yes, it would have to be the same years.  I'm not saying some other one might not fit, but those definitely would.  Remember, it's not just the shape of the door, it's got to follow the compound curve of the quarterpanel as well, or it will look like crap.  I know there aren't a lot of these Buicks or Olds still around, but they sold ten Grand Ams for every one of the others.  There should be plenty of them around.
