Auto Parts: WIPER MOTOR, style chevys, wiper motors

Question
hello. i have a 1990 chevy k-1500 truck.

about 50% of the time, when i turn on the windshield wipers, either for the one swipe, or in the delay mode, 50% of the time they turn on, and stay on. i am not able to turn them off unless i fiddle witht he switch on the blinker arm, but most times i have to time them, and then turn off the ignition.
so my question is, could this be a problem with the wiper motor itself ? or does it sound like its in the arm switch or inside the steering column ?
i would hate to buy a new wiper motor, 60 bucks, and that not be the problem.
oh yea, sometimes the wiper arms stop anywhere but the bottom.
also, when it is in the malfunctioning mode of operation, the mist option dont work. but when the wipers work as suppose to, the mister works.
thanks.

Answer
There is a "wiper motor pulse board module" attached to the wiper motor that performs these functions.  It is probably bad.  There was a similar but more primitive device attached to the wiper motors on the old-style Chevys ('87 and earlier) and they went bad all the time.  Any parts store should be able to supply the module for cheap, and installing it is a self-explanatory snap.
