Auto Parts: 94 v6 Ford Mustang, quarter tank, ford mustang

Question
My car had made a tapping noise when I was inclining (driving kinda up a hill) on the highway.  My boyfriend was driving, so he pulled over.  The car wasn't running hot and had water in the radiator.  After that we sat there for a couple of min. to try to make our way home which was 45 min away.  So now I am driving.  The hill was getting steeper.  The faster I went, not fast at all, not over 50, the faster the tap would be.  I was checking the RPMS and when it started to redline, I was already pulling off the highway, at that time, my car said bye-bye on it's own and died as soon as it was completely off the highway, THANK GOD!!!  Anywho, I had it towed home, and now this is what it does.  If you could let me know what you think.  I am not an expert. I do need help, and my father in law is coming over this weekend to help my husband take my car apart to find out what is wrong with it.   But know one is for sure.  I bought the car exactly  9 days before that for 2337 and I am feeling like I threw the money out the window!!! If you could tell me anything and everything that you know of to check please please please let me know.  It does make a sound when I go to start it up.  I think it is the fuel.  Dunno.  I am a 21 year old chick who isn't that savy with cars.  I made this video hopping that someone could tell me because I know you can't always tell when you can't hear what is going on.  Also, I have a belt on the front of my car that goes to alot of different stuff.  It doesn't seem to be all the way on there, kind of like it is slipping off.  I can check it though, cause there is only one of me.  I don't know if that is the problem...  It has a full quarter tank of gas and by7 full I mean all the way to the line on quarter.  My lights and radio come on, my windows roll down, that is about it!!! Thank you so much for you time.  It means the world to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Answer
Hi Brandi,

Sounds to me like something jumped time. The first test should be a compression test, all other testing will rely on decent compression readings. If some or all of the cylinders have low compression (below 100) than there is probably a time issue.

Being that the engine does not run/start, it is more difficult to guess on anything without first knowing if the engine is mechanically sound which to me it does not appear that way.

A compression test will determine if you have to dig deeper to test or dig deeper to repair.

Thanks for taking the time to make a video, that does help quite a bit. If you need more, please do not hesitate to send a follow-up.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
