Auto Parts: fuel filter tube, dirty environments, toyota corolla

Question
Have a 2004 toyota corolla w/58,000 miles.  The service light went on & I took to service at dealer.  I was told that it shows on the computer that gas evaporates (losing fuel pressure).  How long or how many miles should the fuel filter tube have lasted?

Answer
Service life of the fuel filter can vary depending on driving conditions, i.e. dirty environments, mileage driven over a certain period of time, etc.  If you've never changed your fuel filter in 58,000 miles I wouldn't be surprised if it's long overdue.  I change the fuel filters on all my vehicles once a year.
