Auto Parts: 1988 Saab, spare tire cover, pep boys

Question
QUESTION: Do you have any idea what the electric motor that drives a cable is located all the way in the back of the car against the back wall and below the spare tire cover. I believe it drives a cable along both sides of the car headed forward. Thanks

ANSWER: Hi Mike,

Those are usually used to open a fuel door or trunk latch. If you have a convertible, it is possible it is used to latch/unlatch the top.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.

SAAB MOTOR
QUESTION: The MOTOR is larger than a actuator for the fuel door or trunk lid. This drives a 1/4" cable. I'm fairly certain that it is SAAB specific. The only numbers on it are 11GM 12V,  25 90,  60927016A  The brand says LUCAS but the sticker has a gouge so I am guessing at the true name. I want to replace it but don't know what it is to shop for it. I have attached a picture.

Answer
Hi Mike,

"" I want to replace it but don't know what it is to shop for it.""

That makes no sense to me. You want to replace it, why? is something not working? What? THAT'S probably what the motor does!
