Question
Hello i have a 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 and last week the steering wheel has started to rub in 2 places when you turn it about at 5 o'clock and 8 o'clock . it makes it a little hard to steer when turning in those directions what could these be? do i need to replace steering wheel or the whole steering column? i do have tilt steering and thats it .. Thank You

Answer
Hi Stephanie,

Sorry for the delayed response but my computer has been down for the last few days.

I know you're not going to want this as your answer, but I would actually take the car to someone to look at it. Having steering difficulties could result in a dangerous situation for not only you and your passengers but for those around you on the roadways.

There would be no way for me to diagnose your problem without actually seeing the issue so i do not even want to speculate. Sorry.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
