Question
QUESTION: MY SPEEDOMETER QUITS WORKING. SOMETIMES FOR A WEEK OR SO, SEEMS LIKE WHEN I REALLY GET ON IT(SMOKING THE TIRES) IT WILL START/STOP WORKING. WERE DOES MY CABLE RUN INTO THE TRANS??? CAN NOT FIND IT, WERE AND WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR???

ANSWER: Hi Kevin,

It may look like a hot-rod, but it isn't.

If you have an automatic trans, the speed sensor is mounted at the tail of the transmission on the right (passenger) side of the engine compartment. You'll probably find that the nylon ring is stripped from over-torquing it.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.

QUESTION: IT HAS A 5 SPEED MANUAL TRANS....IST IT A SPEED SENSOR, OR A CABLE. WOULD THAT CHANGE THE LOCATIONS ON THE TRANS.

FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS IT WORKS FOR A MONTH OR SO, THEN NOTHING FOR A COUPLE WEEKS...........THANKS.

Answer
Hi Kevin,

Several different designs of MT's were put into those and there was no standard location for the speed sensor(s). Chances are that the sensor is near the right CV axle shaft. It should be electrical, cables weren't used by too many manufacturers passed 1995.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
