Auto Parts: nissan sentra wont excellerate, nissan, stalling

Question
I have a 1993 nissan sentra. it starts and idles fine, I tuned it up, put a clutch etc. However, when you give it the slightest amount of gas peddle, it loses power, it almost sounds to run on only 2 clynders. if you hold it to the floor, it just hits a few times and goes back down to nothing, kind of popping but not popping through the carb/throatle body. So, idles, but won't rev up at all , almost but just wont pick up any speed. I changed the fuel filter and found a few pin holes in the lines so next I'll put another line one9 its the line coming from tank to bottom of ilter, I also notice that that MAF was unplugged, I plugged it in but haven't started it yet as I am about to put in the new gas hose. Any suggestions? Thank you, Larry. intellectgraphics@onebox.com

Answer
Fix the problems you've found so far and go from there.

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?  That would be the easiest place to look right now outside of the other issues you've found.  A clogged fuel filter can cause the problem you speak of.  If it's been over a year, I'd change that filter just to rule it out as a possible problem.  They're cheap.

Once you repair the problems you've found and addressed the fuel filter - IF the problem still exists, hook up a fuel pressure gauge and get a reading.  Pick up either a Haynes or Chilton manual - it will spell out the procedure for you.  If your pressure is not within spec, a faulty fuel pump is likely.

Would love to hear the results.  Hope this helps.
