Auto Parts: transmision, borg warner transmission, pep boys

Question
QUESTION: I have a borg warner transmission T10 would like to know what it came out of and the year,  the #s on the tailhousing are T10K7 and on the case  are 13-04-065-902   L-28-73 it is all cast iron except the plate in the middle  thank you  dennis

ANSWER: Hi Dennis,

Closest thing I can come up with is either an American Motors vehicle or a Jeep, 1971 thru 1974. My numbers don't match exactly, but apparently BW stopped using the 13-04... numbers in 1975. That may be why I don't have exact information, age is a factor.

That third number looks allot like a date stamp, L=12/28/1973 which would match some of the information I found.

Hope that helps, wish I could have been more precise.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.

QUESTION: to my knowledge the Trans was in a drag car for the 1/4 mile  in 1970  in a nova could it have ben in a early corvette

Answer
Hi Dennis,

You gave me part numbers and asked me where it came from. To the best of my knowledge, my answer was accurate.

I can say for certain that that particular transmission was NEVER used in any early-model Corvettes, OEM. Anything beyond OEM is possible, someone may have retro-ed it into a Vette sometime early in it's life but GM pretty much always used the M-series manuals in the Vette's.
