Auto Parts: my car, pontiac sunbird, 93 pontiac sunbird

Question
I have a 93 Pontiac Sunbird LE 4cyl. 2.0. We removed the head because it was cracked and bought a new one. When we went to put it all back together again we realized that the person that had helped us take it apart had lost one of the pieces. In the head there are lift rods and valves springs, and on the valve springs sits a small piece that the rocker arm sits on. I need to know what that piece is called and if I can buy one somewhere. I have called every about parts store in my area and no one has any clue as to what I am talking about. You are my last hope.

Answer
Hi Amanda,

It's called a rocker-guide and you won't find a single new one on the planet. You will find them in sets but I wouldn't know where to start you looking. I think there is a difference between the intake guide and the exhaust guide so if you let me know which one it is, possibly even by snapping a photo and sending it to me (photos@knucklebusters.us), I think I can help you out.

Up front, we have a $25.00 minimum shipping purchase and it's never a good idea to tell someone that they are your last resort, they tend to try and charge more for the product if you look desperate to get it. I'd never do that but is not to say others won't.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
