Auto Parts: Replacing A/C Condenser on 2003 Pontiac Grand Am V6 Engine, step by step directions, pep boys

Question
QUESTION: How do I remove the condenser from the vehicle.

Are there fitting that have a tendency to twist apart because they are frozen together?

Do I need to replace any other parts or components like the drier or need anti-seize lubricant on fittings or a seal coating on fittings to prevent leaks at fittings ?

All steps to remove and install condenser will serve a very important cause.

Thank You for your help and instructions

ANSWER: Hi Thomas,

Your condenser is bolted in. I think you need to remove the radiator first, but not sure. Fittings should be bolt-together, USE TWO WRENCHES if it is so that you DON'T twist the aluminum lines. If they are quick-disconnect, use the proper tool to separate them. I don't give step-by-step directions that can be found in repair manuals so my suggestion is to take your time, replacement of a condenser is common sense, loosen bolts, remove, replace.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.

Well, I assumed if you are asking a question about A/C, you already know you need to evacuate and vacuum the system. ONLY qualified A/C technicians should ever touch an A/C system which is why I gave you the common-sense info that I did. You should NEVER coat A/C lines prior to installation with anything. They seal with rubber O-rings and nothing else is required. If you properly vacuum the system, dryer replacement is not needed. And again, I don't give step-by-step instructions that can be found in a repair manual. Go BUY a repair manual if you want step-by-step instructions. I just love people who think they are 'so smart' that THEY are the ones giving the 'correct' answer to trump mine. Well, sorry Charlie, not this guy. I wouldn't take advice from you on how to sharpen a pencil.

Have a nice day.

It's jerk-off's like you that make people like me stop doing volunteer work to help others. In the event that you don't know, experts on this site do NOT get paid. My advice to you is next time your brain farts and you need to ask a stupid question and then have the audacity to belittle the person giving the answer, ask someone else, somewhere else! You're a POS nobody who thinks he's a big-man. Asking advice about something you know nothing about. Typical TPT and I'm sure that's what you are.
