Auto Parts: Muffler, pontiac sunfire, 2003 pontiac sunfire

Question
QUESTION: I am going to get a new muffler for my car. The new one should sound really good and i have dual exhaust with a muffler on each side. Will i have to get another muffler on the other side too for me to hear it or will i be able to hear it without it. Right now both the stock mufflers are in it.

ANSWER: Hi Will,

What are you driving?

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.

QUESTION: I am driving a 2003 pontiac sunfire and its like rediculous cuz i still have both stock mufflers in but they are both different sizes lol. one is small and one lookes like a stock truck muffler

Answer
Hi Will,

If I'm following correctly, you have a Sunfire with dual exhaust? factory? with a 4cyl engine? You may have dual tailpipes, but dual exhaust? no. Your vehicle should have one muffler and at least one resonator past the muffler. If you want to hang duals, I can't see how or why.

I could be totally out in left field here so if you're still unsure, fire me off a photo and I'll try and be a little clearer (photos@knucklebusters.us).
