Auto Parts: My 98 chevy venture will not start, crankshaft sensor, pep boys

Question
hi,
I just purchased a used chey venture that was running good, except for the motor mount was bad.the engine jumped when i shift gears. before i could fix it the car stopped starting. I also took it to autozone before it stopped starting, to see why the check engine light was on. it read crankshaft sensor. so i changed both crankshaft sensors , and it started right up.  so five mintues later i fixed the  motor mount, and now the engine won't start again. I get sparks from spark plug. and have a full tank of gas.can hear the fuel pump hum when car is in start position. Sprayed starter fluid and it starts but runs rugged and quickly stops. what is wrong?

Answer
Hi Dorjan,

If the vehicle starts/runs when starting fluid is used, there is a lack of fuel getting to the injectors and/or there is something wrong that the injectors are not pulsing and releasing fuel into the engine. I would check to make sure fuel is reaching the fuel rail by either attaching a tester to it or releasing the Schrader valve AFTER cycling the key on and off to see if there is any pressure at the rail. Just because the pump seems like it is running does not mean it is actually doing it's job and your issue is definitely fuel related, or lack thereof.

My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
