Auto Parts: ford explorer rear differential, hogs head, ford explorer

Question
2004 ford explorer rear diffential leaking. told to replace gasket.  seemed easy enough but after i took out all the bolts i couldn't get the cover off.  seems to be aluminum and don't want to damage it. any suggestions or am i just missing something

Answer
Hi James,

Wish I knew more about what you're working on there. If you are removing the rear cover, it is as simple as that. Maybe you have a bolt you forgot about. If you are removing the hogs-head from the front of the housing, you'll need to remove the axles first.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
