Auto Parts: 95 f150 smog pump, manual transmition, crown vic

hey i have a 95 ford f150 4.9 straight 6 engine and 2wd and manual transmition.........is the smog pump supposes to make a whine noise or should it be quiet?......as my dad has a crown vic with a smog pump and the thing makes no noise at all

Hi Bill,

If all the hoses are still attached to it, yes, it should be nearly silent. If one of the hoses has worked its way loose, it will make noise as well as if the front bearing is going south.
