Auto Parts: IAT or MAT sensor, chevrolet silverado, pressure vacuum

Question
where can I find the IAT/MAT sensor on my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 5.3L engine. Please be specific.

              Thanks

Answer
Hi Roger,

If you mean IAC and MAP, they should both be located on or near the throttle body if you have TBI injection and on the intake manifold close to the throttle valve if you have multi-port or 'railed' injection.

IAC= Idle Air Control. Adjusts the amount of air entering the intake to stabilize the idle. Used on fuel injected engines in place of a traditional choke plate. If this part goes south, the idle of the engine will be erratic, stalling and hard starting can result.

MAP= Manifold Absolute Pressure. This sensor detects the presence of negative pressure (vacuum) in the intake manifold and simply instructs the computer to the presence of it or not and the ECM determines if the engine is on or off by the reading that sensor gives it. If this sensor goes south, the engine will likely start and immediately stall over and over again.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
