Auto Parts: transfer case, drive line components, gmc sierra

QUESTION: where do i get a t-case np246 "gmc 1500hd 4l80e electric shift for cheap. all i can find is $900+. $875 just to get it rebuild. and does a 2500 t-case non-hd work if it is still 32 spline? thanks russ.

ANSWER: Hi Russ,

The T-case you are looking for is a rare breed which is why it is priced the way it is. I have one here priced similar to what you've been finding and I wouldn't be able to get it to you for less than $850.00.

No other T-case will work. Option NP8 was ONLY used on AWD vehicles, NOT 4x4, All Wheel Drive. HD is only for the transmission (opt code MT1), the light-duty version is the 4L60E (opt code M30). Damage to other drive line components WILL result if the incorrect T-case is used. Also, your T-case code is NV246 (New Venture, not New Process) as far as I can tell considering I have no clue what year your vehicle actually is. Based on the limited info you provided, I'm assuming it is an '01 or '02 GMC Sierra 1500 with option MT1.

QUESTION: its a 2003 quadrasteer crew cab. i know that it is rare, i searched almost a year for one. on the t-case the tag says new process. 246 gm. 1251 7835. 212 03k1. 272. it has the auto button, 2hi, 4hi, n, 4lo.

Hi Russ,

Same interchange, same unit, same price.

I don't ever recall a New Process 246. I don't know why your tag lists it that way. GM parts states the tag on your '03 should read: NVG246. Which stands for New Venture Gears model 246. check your option code sheet (GM Service Parts Identification sheet) if unsure for option MT1, MN8 or NP8. If any one or a combination of them is found on this sheet, you have a New Venture T-case.

Thanks for not telling me again what make/model your vehicle is BTW, it helps me none. If 2003 Quadrasteer Crew Cab is written on the side, I'm stumped because my interchange does not list that vehicle.
