Auto Parts: dodge 2005 ram transmission light, obd ii code scanner, obd ii code

Question
I recently "overshot" my parking space and parked my ram Quad Cab up against a curb.  When I pulled out the transmission was "rough" and the Transmission Light came on...I pulled over Restarted the Truck and Transmision is shifting propperly, but the light is still on...Is there a way that I can reset the switch which turns the light on and see if it still trips the light?

Answer
Hi Rick,

The easiest way to reset your ECM is to disconnect the battery with the key 'ON' and the engine off. Wait about ten or fifteen minutes, turn key to the 'OFF' position and reconnect the battery. This should reset any soft-codes your computer has stored.

2005 was a split-year vehicle and SOME of the vehicles manufactured will require a scan-tool diagnostic reset and will retain the ECM code-memory even after the battery is disconnected for a substantial amount of time. If your ECM does not reset, you'll need to go to a technician that has an OBD-II code scanner to reset.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
