Auto Parts: Vauxhall Astra engine types, vauxhall astra, head gasket

Question
I have an M Reg 1.4 Astra and need to replace the head gasket. I have been informed that I need to identify the engine type (NZ for instance) so the correct parts can be identified. Where do I find the engine typ as I have looked all over the block etc, can only find a Ref no RS 65747 and Type which is 2087-910

Hi Dave,

Never heard of that car. If it is made like other cars, there will be a small stamped-steel plate on the firewall which will indicate engine as well as other important codes. You may also find the info you're searching for on the emmissions sticker (if equipped, on the rad support) or vehicle information tag (underside of hood) where you should find engine family data.
