Auto Parts: question about a part, suburu legacy, auto parts dealer

I just bought a suburu Legacy and i need the clock spring that controls the air bag and the horn. I also need the trunk latch but Auto Zone doesn't carry it. Can you direct me to somewhere that would carry it?

Hi Larry,

Your LOCAL used auto parts dealer would be able to help you more with this than I can. I can look through my yard for the latch, but I'd need to know the specifics about your Legacy.

I can't advise you on safety issues dealing with SRS. If you do something wrong, injury or death could be the result so unless you are WELL versed in EXACTLY how to R&R an SRS clockspring I would not be able to assist you there except to advise you to take it to an ASE certified technician for the proper repair. The clockspring is what activates the wheel-bag. If you are in an accident that the bag needs to deploy in and the clockspring is disabled because it is installed incorrectly, the bag will not deploy and that could be very dangerous. If you don't think your life or the life of the person driving the vehicle is worth the extra few bucks you'd pay to have it professionally replaced...
