QUESTION: Pressures have been on the high side.  The reasons I believe my problem is the same as Jonathan's are it is the same vehicle (2003 Suburban), with the same loud banging of the air conditioner belt tensioner (a rare problem).  So I'm asking, did Johnathan stop the banging and how?

Answer
He never let me know. You could have problem with your fan clutch.  This will make your pressures higher than normal.  Very common in South Florida where we have a lot of do it yourself customers.  Sometimes they add to muck refrigerant.  You can let some refrigerant out and see what happens.  Once you verify that the noise goes away then you can check the rest of the system.  If this works let me know.
