Auto Parts: renault megane gearbox/clutch, renault megane coupe, foreign cars

hello, i just bought a renault megane coupe, year 1999, mileage 78k, 5 speed, 1600CC. the problem with it is that it is hard to shift from neutral to first and second and also reverse. sometimes its soft and smooth, and sometimes it wont go in, u have to let go of the clutch and try again. i am wondering if its the gearbox, the cluth doesnt seem to be loose, the other gears go in normally. well its a bit of a problem at traffic lights and roundabouts sometimes, i also want to know if this requires immediate change as in can it be a big problem?? i went to a mechanic who checked the oil in the gearbox and said there is no need to add any.

Hi Ivan,

I don't know much about foreign cars, but I can tell you that clutches that shift hard sometimes sounds like a gear problem. You can either have your clutch replaced, or have it gotten into and the gears checked out- whichever would be cheaper.
