Auto Parts: I need help changing my transmission filter, chevy 1500, transmission filter

Can you please help me change my transmission filter for my 1993 chevy 1500 pickup????

Hi Janet,

You should be able to jack your truck up (please put it on jack stands and chalk the rear wheels) and remove the transmission pan. It should be closer to the rear of the vehicle than the oil pan. You will need an oil changing pan to catch the old transmission fluid in-and you're going to get plenty messy, so just be prepared. Once all the fluid is drained take the pan off completely and the transmission filter should be right there. Remove it and replace it. As well-when you purchase your filter you SHOULD get a new gasket as well (most places sell both as a "kit")-be sure and replace it as well.
