Auto Parts: horn switch Lincoln Towncar 1997, airbag module, lincoln dealer

Question
The Lincoln dealer states that the horn switch is not repairable.  It is suggested that I purchase a new airbag module which includes the horn switch.  (Of course they are going to suggest this.  The cost is approx. 700$ before installation.) My question is "How can I repair it?".

-----Question-----
I banged my fist on the horn pad in the center of the steering wheel.  The horn sounded continuously.  So, I had to remove the fuse to silence the horn.  Are the horn contacts stuck?  Is the horn switch under the airbag? Can I repair it myself?  If yes, how?
-----Answer-----
Sounds like you might have broken the horn button. Unfortunatly this is not a job for the amature. working around the air bag is not something to take lightly. I would recommend takeing it to a good auto repair shop. Shouldn't cost you too much.

Answer
Dear Gerard. If you want to do it go to the dealer and by the part. unhook your battery for atleast an hour. hopefully the airbag auxillary trigger battery will be discharged in that amount of time. remove the two screws from the back side of the steer wheel pull the center section off. unplug the airbag. its the bright yellow connector. reinstall in the opposite order.
