Car Alarms: alarm going off for no reason, viper alarm system, alarmtek

Question
I recently bought an older model van.  It had a viper alarm system installed when original owner purchased it but it had long since quit working.  Suddenly the other day it decided I guess to start working again.  I very seldom lock my vehicle and I returned to it to find it locked.  When I opened the door with the key and proceeded to turn it on the alarm went off and the vehicle would not start.  I was told to look under the dash for a black button which to this day I still have been unable to find.  I could really use some advice on how to turn this alarm off for good please.  I do not like being stranded.  lol...Could you please send me a picture of where and what this button looks like and also how to turn it off permanently.

Take a couple of moments and look back
